As you gather wood, you take a moment and fill your lungs with the crisp oxygen.
Adrenaline rushes through your veins, a lush forest,
The only sound, the voices of hummingbirds.
As a tree falls to your axe, the sun covers your skin with warm kisses,
And the water feels like waking up after a deep slumber.

Preparing for lunch, you gather rich tomatoes from the garden behind the shed.
You’re met with disappointment as you see crumbling fruit in the garden. Squirrels.

Joy fills your body as you return home to feed a hungry wife and daughter.
They are stunned by the rich flavor, their taste buds satisfied.

Returning home from work one evening, you find a new letter on the table.
You notice your beloved’s handwriting as your heart skips a beat.
Your mind races with anticipation as you begin to read,
The words “The bun will be in the oven when you get home” sprout from the page.
As the hint blooms, you bolt upstairs and pack your satchel for the three-month journey from Charleston to San Antonio.
